Rams News · WYHS Boys Soccer Defeats Defending Division III State Champion, The Wellington School in Season Opener.

Whitehall Yearling starts the season with an impressive 1-0 away win against the Wellington School on a regular season and league worthy win on a last minute goal scored by junior Jesus Yanez. After an unimpressive first half by the Rams, the Rams managed to turn things around the second half and be on the attack most of the second half.  Wellington was able to defend well for most of the game, until the last minute when senior Kirubel Amari initiates an impressive counter attack by connecting with sophomore Danny Arriola, and Danny sets up Jesus with an assist for a clinical finish from the top of the box to claim the Rams its first season win.  Senior defender and captain Jefferson Martinez put forth a stout performance and led the defense to a shut out performance against the Jaguars.  Senior Ebrima Jorbateh, senior Yared Yesuf, senior Kirubel Amari, senior Jonathan Guijosa and  sophomore Danny Arrion put forth a strong second half performance.  On goal, the Rams were led by Edwin Gutierrez, who produced a strong performance in the back.  Good job Rams.  Next game is against @ Logan on Tuesday, 9/8/20.
